Is Your Online Dating Profile Too Flashy?

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

There isn't anything wrong with portraying yourself in the best possible light when it comes to your online dating profile. But, there is such a thing as being too flashy. You may be wondering how being flashy could possibly be a problem - think about it like this. A good looking guy who's got it together and who you met on an online dating service shows up at your house with his shirt buttoned half way down, wreaking of cologne - that's too flashy.

There comes a point when showing yourself off becomes cheesy, unappealing and, well, just plain disgusting. Unless of course you enjoy attracting equally cheesy folks, then that's your call, but I wouldn't recommend it.

So, how do you know if your online dating profile is too flashy? Consider the following:

1. You're Posing Too Hard For The Camera
Everyone wants his or her online dating headshot to stand out form everyone else's, but no one wants a shot of your butt, abs or boobs. You may think that beefcake photos and photos that are vehemently showing off the goods are attractive to the opposite sex, but it's not. The only people you'll be attracting are over-sexed idiots and jerks and duds. Again, if that's what you want - go for it. But, for the rest of you, clean up your act. You can look sexy, appealing and strike a sheik pose without looking nasty.

2. There is Too Much Eye Candy on Your Profile
Not all online dating services allow you to put pictures, music and other HTML knick-knacks on your profile, but some do including social networking sites that you may be using to meet people such as MySpace and Facebook. If you've got glittery animations that say things like "Sweety", "Sexy" and other nonsense paired with some song that plays automatically and a slideshow of you and your friends' exploits, then you're just being too flashy.

Try to be more low-key with your profiles, Only reveal the information that's necessary and keep it short and sweet. Not only can too much eye candy slow down other people's computers, it can be just plain annoying.

Remember the best thing to do when it comes to online dating is to show your true personality and keep your online dating profiles short, sweet and to the point. Less is more, after all.

Of course, the most important part of your profile is your dating headshot. That's the first thing people see and that's the first impression you make. So, if you're posing too hard for the camera or if your picture doesn't look good and clear, then you're either not going to attract the kind of person you're looking for or people are just going to pass by your profile.
