Maximizing Your Potential by Definition

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Someone once pointed out to me that in many of my presentations focusing on my theme, Maximizing Your Potential, I did not define potential specifically. Allow me to do so now.

Whenever I refer to potential and how to make the best of it, I'm referring to the God-given abilities, skills, and talents we have. Specifically, our skills fall into three categories, and only three. There are those we use with people, those we use with things, and those we use with information.

A. Borrowing from Mr. Richard Nelson Bolles' book, What Color Is Your Parachute?, here are 13 basic skills we use with people:

· Speaking or listening to others so as to convey or receive information. (Communicating)

· Influencing others by our words or actions. (Persuading)

· Showing sensitivity to the feelings of others. (Sensing)

· Favoring the implicit or explicit needs of others. (Serving)

· Caring for others by using specified techniques or approaches to improve their physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual problem. (Treating)

· Giving expert advice or recommendations based on our own area of expertise. (Advising)

· Paying attention to instructions and then carrying out the prescribed action. (Taking instructions)

· Monitoring behavior and coordinating it in order to achieve organizational objectives. (Managing/Supervising)

· Recognizing and utilizing the skills of others. (Leading)

· Arriving at an individual or jointly agreed-upon decision usually through discussion and compromise. (Negotiating/deciding)

· Exhibiting showmanship for fun, laughter, or entertainment. (Entertaining/Amusing)

· Dealing with the problems of others in the context of their total self while helping them to identify and resolve them through self-directed action. (Counseling)

· Giving new information or ideas to people through lecture, demonstration, or practice. (Training)

B. When it comes to dealing with information, we use our skills 15 different ways. Here they are:

We investigate, detect, compile, and classify information by means of research. (Researching)

· We examine two or more people or objects in order to learn about and react to their similarities and dissimilarities. (Comparing)

· We study the behavior of people, animals, or things, or the details of a particular phenomenon or place. (Observing)

· We perceive and define cause-and-effect relations. (Analyzing)

· We deal with numbers in performing simple or complex arithmetic. (Computing)

· We give a definite structure and working order to things. (Organizing)

· We inspect, diagnose, test, and evaluate information, people, or things. (Evaluating)

· We take what others have developed and apply it to new situations often in a new form. (Improving/adapting)

· We transform apparently unrelated things or ideas by forming them into a new cohesive whole. (Creating)

· We fashion or shape things. (Designing)

· We conceive shapes or sounds by perceiving their patterns and structures and we enable others to see them, too. (Visualizing)

· We record, memorize, or reproduce on paper or in the mind. (Copying, Storing, Retrieving)

· We determine the sequence of tasks after reviewing pertinent data or requirements. (Planning, Developing)

· We systematically accomplish tasks in a manner that causes objectives to be attained or surpassed. (Achieving)

· We speed up the accomplishment of a task or series of tasks so as to reach an organizational objective on or ahead of time. (Expediting)

C. Finally, let's look at the skills we use with things. We do so by:

· using our body as an instrument of accomplishment. (Being athletic)

· using our hands or body to identify or move an object. (Handling)

· manipulating hand tools. (Using Tools)

· monitoring, adjusting, and servicing automatic machines. (Minding Machines)

· performing some or all operations upon an office, shop, or other machine or equipment. (Operating Machine or Equipment)

· performing some or all operations upon a vehicle. (Operating a Vehicle)

· putting materials into or taking them out of machines. (Feeding, Emptying Machines)

· using earth as an instrument of accomplishment. (Working with Earth and Nature)

· preparing, building, installing, and displaying machinery or equipment. (Setting Up Displays, Machinery, or Equipment)

· attaining precise set of limits, tolerance, or standards. (Precision Working)

· putting an object back into good working condition or similar to its original condition. (Preparing)

I encourage you to inventory the skills that have brought you success and satisfaction. Then look for creative ways to emphasize them. When you do, you'll be maximizing your potential.

Remember: When you maximize your potential, everyone wins. When you don't, we all lose.

I Didn't Send My Child to Kindergarten

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

My son, Aqmal, approached someone and asked a question:"Do you know Mr. Iwan?"
Adhyaksa Daud (the Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia) answered:"Yes, what is your relationship with him?"
Aqmal answered:"He's my father".

The above conversation happened when Mr. Daud came to pick up his daughter, Fahira, a few days ago. Fahira is in the same class with Aqmal in grade 3. Mr Daud and my husband were also classmates while they were still in junior high school.

I didn't send Aqmal to kindergarten. Some friends told me that if Aqmal didn't attend kindergarten, he wouldn't have a chance to socialize with other children around his age and it might lead to a social interaction problem in the future.

I have my own reasons :

1. Some children are not easy to wake up early in the morning. I let little Aqmal sleep as long as he wanted. He would then wake up by himself happily, and was ready to explore another exciting day with me.

2. I never left him alone. We played toy cars, three wheeled bicycle and even barbie house collections. We cut and pasted pictures. He asked me to make drawings. We watched animations films together. I fed him while he played computer games.

3. I showed him the normal interactions between (adult) people. I took him to meet my friends. I brought him along to Ninta's school. We visited my parents, my parents in law and other relatives. I was invited to wedding parties, birthday parties, family gatherings and he came along with me.

4. I created warm and joyful atmosphere at home. Our home was never quiet even though there were only two adults (the maid and me) and two children (Aqmal and his elder sister) before my husband came home at night. Luckily, the maid was a type of person who loved being around young children. The maid and I often sat together on the floor to watch TV together while the children run and jumped around or lied down to rest on our legs.

5. I collected books including children's books and kept children toys properly. As we all know books and toys are good for stimulating young children's mind.

The above conversation between Mr. Daud and Aqmal was a proof that Aqmal is no different from other children. I'm also happy that I have lots of sweet memories about Aqmal's childhood.

Educational Toys For Children - Learning and Playing Makes the Lesson Last Longer

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

With educational toys for children, there is more for them than the obvious benefits. All parents want their children to learn as much as they can as soon as possible, but there are limits.

Nearly every toy a toddler will play with has educational value to it. They have to learn how to grasp and hold objects, along with controlling their muscles for simple tasks like stacking blocks.

Puzzles are a great toy to introduce at this very young age. This is where they will begin to recognize the different characters in the puzzles. There are animals, plants, numbers, letters, and symbols they can begin to notice and identify.

The grasping by a toddler is one of the first lessons they will learn. Most adults forget that at that age, a child is still not used to knowing they have arms, fingers, hands, and legs. Coordinating them is a major undertaking for them. When a parent sees a child smile when they finally accomplish one of these simple tasks, a reward of a big hug will do wonders and it instills self-confidence in your child.

As a child grows, more complicated tasks are incorporated into their toys. Many fathers are unaware that playing with dolls for girls will help them in their future. They will not only learn about color coordination and styles of clothing that are appropriate but will also learn the quality of nurturing.

Computers are all the rage with the youth of today. Even these have educational value. Though combat games expose kids to violence, there are still positive things children can learn from them with the proper guidance from parents. Some of these games that also require the players to feed the people and obtain resources help to teach how communities grow and function in the real world. Of course, they also get to destroy the enemy, but that is another story.

The educational toys for children that are available today can help your child learn more and faster than at any time in the history of mankind.

How To Love Yourself

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Now I'm not talking about the love that is done with the shades down, computer screen open and a handful of tissues. I mean the type of love that is unconditional, builds confidence and makes your life a whole lot happier.

Most people have different aspirations in life other than loving themselves. They want boats, women, money and so on but not love. They look outside of themselves searching to fill the empty hole in an attempt to find happiness. If you are looking to get relationship and dating mastery, loving yourself is the first place to start. No amount of pickup lines or techniques will EVER make up for a shaky inner reality filled with self loathing and doubt. It is the foundation for everything to go right in your relationships and in life.

I understand what you are thinking, that this is just some airy fairy self help advice. This is what I thought for the longest time but choosing to love myself has been the greatest gift that I could give.

The biggest problem that I had with people offering this advice was: they didn't love themselves and didn't offer a guide on how to do it. So here is my little guide to loving yourself:

1. Write out a list of things you appreciate about yourself

This can be a very difficult step to take. People are so used to wallowing in a pit of despair that they can EASILY fire off a list of complaints they have about themselves.

Ask most people what they like about themselves and they will stare at you with a blank confused look while they THINK about the good stuff mustering up one or two positive qualities.

Don't get frustrated when the good qualities don't come easily to mind. It takes time to meditate on what you love about yourself but it will come to you.

This is a crucial step to take, without finding out and actively appreciating yourself, how will anyone else?

2. Make the choice to love yourself

Everything in life is a choice and so is this one

3. Stop beating yourself up and ignore the thoughts

The mind/ego is a duality self loathing machine. It will constantly tell you that you are fatter and dumber than you really are. It does this to keep you halfway between suicide and happiness in order to continue its survival.

YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS. You are not your thoughts any more than you are your muscles or skin. People often identify with how they look and I like to think that I'm more than a bone structure and the skin that covers it. You'll never hear anyone get upset and say they are losing a part of themselves when their skin sheds and becomes dust.

The mind wont stop chattering away so make the choice to either engage in these thoughts or not. Most of the thoughts that your mind produces will not be based in reality at all.

An example of this would be a perfect ten model who thinks she's fat. Everyone around her could tell her that she's not but her ego will repeat this thought over and over. She isn't actually fat, but she believes it to be true because she is identifying with the mind.

Ignore the thoughts that your mind produces. This can be very difficult. It takes time to master ignoring the negative mind thoughts.

4. Don't use affirmations except this one

As I mentioned before the mind is a duality machine. If you take an affirmation like "I am great and all women love me" the mind will instantly produce the opposite. It will say "I suck and women hate me." The first affirmation will make you feel high, feeling good for a little while until the duality kicks in and you crash with returning sadness.

"I love and accept myself completely just the way I am" will not induce the duality the mind makes because it is a universal truth that is self evident.

Next time you are feeling the temptation to buy into the mind when it says you are a loser, say "I love and accept myself completely the way I am" and notice how peaceful you will feel. It might take a couple of times repeating it until the peace sets in.

At first it might seem like you are lying but eventually loving yourself will become automatic.

5. Become honest with yourself

Now that you have taken a look at the good stuff it's time to look at the "bad stuff." Recognizing the things you consider bad about yourself isn't the same as talking yourself down. When you take a trip into your own world don't make judgments about the "bad stuff." Don't tell yourself " I shouldn't feel this way" or "I shouldn't behave this way." Just look at it the best you can without attaching a label to it.

Honesty will bring awareness into your "issues." When you are aware of something it no longer has the ability to control you.

6. Forgive yourself

In order to forgive yourself for the "mistakes" you have made in the past you must first learn the lessons needed from them.

Mistakes happen and we make them in order to learn and grow. They are truly a beautiful thing.

7. Treat yourself nicely

-Buy nice clothes

-treat yourself to good foods

-buy good wine

-exercise

-meditate

-don't work too hard

-don't worry about life too much

-buy yourself an animal. It will help you to open up and feel more love in your life having an animal get extremely excited even though it just saw you ten seconds ago. (look at the picture at the top)

8. Don't take crap from people

Quote from my blog

"Whenever we give our power away to others and take crap from them, it closes our hearts and causes us to pull back. It's painful to be open with someone and have them take advantage of us or treat us not so nicely."

Truly loving yourself means that you love yourself so much so to not let anyone disrespect you or treat you badly.

9. Push past your fears

Fear is only a product of the ego and the ego hates you. Its not your enemy to loath because its only doing what it knows how to do. Fear is an illusion that the ego uses to keep you nice and controlled. You find out that fear isn't real after you push past it. The most common response after plowing through a fear is "well, that wasn't so bad."

Pushing past your fears and having the courage to do so will help lessen the egos self loathing control over you. It will build more confidence as well as help you love yourself more because loving yourself is your natural state buried underneath the ego.

Optimize Windows 7

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Hidden Send To Menu

Personally I love right-clicking because it's such a great way to get more options quickly. For example, the Send To option when you click on a folder in Windows Explorer can save you a lot of time.

By default the Windows 7 Send To menu contains only a few locations and doesn't give you that much choice. But luckily there is a trick to it - press Shift before right-clicking and the Send To menu will expand.

Switch Between Windows Faster

The Minimize - Maximize window animation was first introduced in Windows Vista and made its way into Windows 7. While it does look cool, it also creates a delay and makes your PC slower. Disabling this effect is really easy. It will speed up your computer and make it more responsive.

  • Go to Start, type in SystemPropertiesPerformance and hit Enter
  • Go to the Visual Effects tab
  • Uncheck Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing
  • Click OK

Enjoy a faster and more responsive PC.

Use Problems Step Recorder

Have you ever struggled when trying to describe a problem to a computer technician? I bet you have - after all some problems are almost impossible to describe with words.

Windows 7 offers an easy solution - a tool called Problems Step Recorder. Basically, it works like any screenshot software and also records everything you do with your mouse, etc. So now you can use it to monitor the system and create a report. Then you can send the report to your computer technician or any other user.

To test the tool, simply type psr.exe in the Start menu and hit Enter.

Autoresponders - Uncover 5 Amazing New Ways to Impact Your Autoresponders

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

People simply like it when they receive prompt replies from online entrepreneurs when they send email inquiries. It makes them feel valued. As an entrepreneur, this is something that you must seriously consider as this can either make or break your ebusiness. Don't worry, you don't have to spend 24/7 in front of your computer as you can get autoresponders to do the leg work for you.

Autoresponders are computer programs designed to help ebusiness owners in providing information to their potential clients and make follow-up with them at pre-set time intervals. As these can automate your other tasks, you can spend more of your time promoting your ebusiness using other effective internet marketing tools.

Here are the 5 amazing new ways to impact your autoresponders:

1. Advertise. Look for the most appropriate product that will match your potential client's inquiry and insert a short product description or a compelling photo just before you end your message. Don't forget to highlight the product's benefits and features that will match the needs of your email sender so you can easily create a need for your offering and boost your sales potential.

2. Maximize the use of your autoresponders. Don't just use them in sending replies to your email inquiries or sending email advertisements to your potential clients. To get your money's worth you can also utilize them to manage your email marketing list, send in orders (if you are selling information base products like MP3s, ebooks, ecourses, individual training videos, etc), and send confirmation email to your customers once the orders have been completed.

3. Follow-up. Send your potential clients with pre-programmed email advertisements to make a follow up on their intention to purchase from you. Make sure you that you send them at least seven days apart so your target market will not feel that you are already spamming them. It would help if you can communicate the benefits and features of your products or offer freebies that can easily wow your potential clients.

4. Use blinking texts, audio streaming, graphics, and animations sparingly. Unless you are targeting teenage girls, be very conservative in using these on your email messages. Although they can make your content visually appealing, they can extremely affect your downloading time.

5. Be enthusiastic. You need to sound very excited when offering your products to your potential clients so you can easily make a sale. You can do this by making your email advertisements sound upbeat, exciting, and warm.

List of Small Business Ideas - 3 Unique Business Ideas That Could Explode Your Income

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

These days, small-scale entrepreneurs are quickly gaining ground and popularity. If you really want to start your own business, take a look at the list of small business ideas in this article and you might just find one that is ideal for you.

Putting up a business can be a little daunting, especially when you consider the big businesses exerting dominance in your neighborhood. However, that doesn't mean your dream of starting your own business is doomed.

Our list contains a lot of interesting and exciting business ventures that require little capital and yet bring in big profits. Choose from the list of small business ideas below and get started!

1) Buy and sell on eBay.

This is a good small business idea if you're into shopping and if you have a good eye for products that will sell. Think about it. You don't have to build a store or rent a kiosk. You don't even have to leave home, or even your office, to operate this business.

All you need is a computer and reliable Internet connection. Who doesn't have both these days? You can concentrate on a specific kind of product (e.g. designer bags) or branch out into different areas (e.g. jewelry, cars).

2) Offer tutoring services.

Another concept that made it to my list of small business ideas is tutoring. What subjects are you good at? Math? English? If you are somewhat successful academically, I suggest you give tutoring a try.

This gig usually pays well, depending on who your clients are. You can start with the people you already know. Is your friend flunking Algebra? Or is your co-worker's daughter a little behind her Science? Don't hesitate to offer your tutoring services. Who knows just how far that will get you?

3) Serve the dogs.

People have become too lazy to walk their dogs or give them their baths. You can take advantage of that! If you have a way with animals, why don't you start walking or bathing your neighbors' dogs?

Not only will this help you earn cash, it will also help you get your daily dose of healthy exercise. Besides, you don't have to walk or bathe dogs forever. Someday, you can hire other people to do the task for you. Then you can just sit back and relax for the commission to roll in.

There is nothing embarrassing about turning to this simple list of small business ideas for inspiration. Most entrepreneurs I know are happier with their ventures now than with their previous jobs. So if you're thinking of starting a business of your own, there's nothing wrong with testing the waters by vying for a small one first.

What Careers in Healthcare Are Available

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Adults who are considering a career change from the hectic world of business might find that a new job in health care could be just the right fit for them. If you are beginning to seek out information about healthcare careers, and the resulting health care training and education that are required for each, you will discover that there are many viable options for online health care education. You can receive training for healthcare management jobs, and many other health-related careers, from the comfort of your own home at your computer.

Healthcare management jobs combine your knowledge of both health care and business together, providing you with the skills you need to manage a hospital, doctor's office or nursing home. Students working toward completing training for this career field usually obtain a Master's degree in Health Administration. You can work toward this degree both online and on campus, and your coursework will cover topics ranging from human resource management to managerial epidemiology as well as law and ethics.

Other types of health care jobs are performed by people trained to be technologists in various health-related fields. You can find careers as an anesthesia technologist, lab technician, patient care technician, pharmacy technician, and if you enjoy working with animals, as a veterinary technician. All of these wonderful health career options can be studied online through accredited college and university course offerings leading to the degree of your choice. Many technologist degrees take approximately two years of coursework to complete.

For example, an anesthesia technologist will take classes that cover the topics of sterile techniques, tool and materials management, as well as life support. In addition to course work, you will also spend time in hands-on training held at hospitals and other settings. After you have completed training and testing, you will work under the supervision of an anesthesiologist to assist with patient care while they are under anesthesia.

Becoming a pharmacy technician is another popular health career that can be completed in a one to two-year program. You will receive training so that once on the job you will be prepared to take prescription requests from customers utilizing appropriate customer service skills, then prepare the prescriptions and the corresponding labels, and check to make sure that prescriptions have been filled properly.

If you love science and like to work on detail-oriented tasks, then you might want to consider a career as a laboratory technician. These individuals prepare and analyze test samples using skills taught in online courses such as biology, urinalysis, organic chemistry, and also through hands-on work done in a lab.

Any of these health care careers can be worked on in the comfort of your own home, at your preferred time schedule, when you pursue an online health care education.

Finding the Best Family Holiday

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

As a mum and self proclaimed adventurer, people often ask me what are the best kind of family activity holidays. You may wonder the same thing yourself. When you have very young children, it's often very tempting to stay at home, as the children are too young to remember the experience and you will be too tired. When you have older children, they tend to be more interested in their games consoles, phones and laptops to make the prospect of sunlight seem appealing. But never fear, the perfect family adventure is out there. Simply follow my advice:

Travel with young children.

Any travel with babies or toddlers is an adventure. Whether you're playing in the garden, driving them to nursery (the cries of my youngest were epic whenever we turned the corner to the local playgroup) or visiting a friend, you can feel like you've been through the stressful Heathrow experience without having to pay for the flight. So why bother travelling at all? Well, it can in fact be very relaxing to take a bit of time out from your usual routine. Honest. Don't worry about going anywhere too exotic (unless you have family abroad, in which case use them wholeheartedly - they'll be delighted to see the little one too!) but a trip to the seaside, a cottage in the country or a visit to a local farm can be the perfect getaway from the drudgery of feeding, changing nappies and snatching whatever sleep you can.

Adventurous travel

Children are probably at their most appreciative pre-teen. When you're ten the world seems like a wonderful place to be explored and it's your chance to show it to them! The typical destination that invites wide eyed wonder is Disney World but if I were you, I'd consider an African safari as the perfect treat! Almost every child I know loves animals and the majestic creatures of the Lion beat hands down Florida's park.

Teens travel

Throw away the video games and step away from the TV / computer / mobile phone screen! Teens may take a lot to impress but get it right and you'll never see that moody face again (at least for the duration of the two week trip!). Do something active or exciting, trek to Everest Base camp if they're older or go on an African safari in Botswana.

Above all, treat your kids to family activity holidays and they will never forget it!

How Computer Video Cards Work

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

When someone is checking out a video clip or movie, he/she is typically unaware of the forces going on behind the screen to bring the clip to the eye. There is good amount more than just analyzing, playing, and transforming the signal into something readable. Whether it appears as a simple text animation or a complex 3-D rendering, video cards make it possible to see a video of any kind.

A chip for video is sometimes called: display adapter, graphics card, or graphics accelerator card. Basically, the CPU picks up the data from the file and sends it to the chip card, in the tiny slot, to handle it and return the desired video. This process happens like butter and you cannot tell the clips going through; the video streams smoothly.

Computers include small ports that video devices or media plug in to. These inputs basically connect to another device or computer to send the view to the screen. Some of the more common methods for output are:

  • Video Graphics Array (VGA) - This is common to many computers and is not seen on machines today. It looks mostly like a rectangle or square slot with holes in the middle. This is the first kind of video input/output and is obsolete because the quality is not as good.
  • Video In / Video Out (VIVO) and S-Video - These extensions support 3-D rendering by translating the data. These types are more widely used today and support a clear picture, LCD, and plasma. The installation point looks round and contain dots in the center. Most computers and televisions label this as S video.
  • High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) - This interconnect for digital audio and video is a bit more robust and supports streaming video. This type of port helps to protect copyright-protected materials.
  • Display Port - These types are the newest technology for video capability and is said to be capable of putting all other connections to rest. It supports streaming video rendering without any distortion.
It does not matter the kind of port used for video input, computers all process video on a card like any other computer interaction does. The chip set of the card includes components that make it work. These components include: video bios, video memory, and RAMDAC (Random Access Memory Digital to Analog Converter). The video bios exists as a simple outline of how the computer is to handle video. The video memory then starts to help streaming. Finally, the RAMDAC translates the analog signal to digital so the screen can play the video. Although some computers no longer need RAMDAC, due to the introduction of monitors with RAMDACs already in them, though all computers still need it to run the clip.

Not all individuals that play videos know what is at work in the background to make it possible. Most users value being able to access videos in seconds. The processes above happen so quickly that you don't even see it. However, many gadgets and pieces are hard at work to bring the clarity of video.

The Top 5 Most Common Computer Problems

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

If you have a PC, then you have most likely suffered from computer problems. Most people have accepted that there PC will eventually crash due to a virus or some massive error. However this is a myth. Your PC is built to last more than a decade. However you must keep well tuned for it to make its third birthday. Nevertheless, most people would rather buy a shiny new PC rather than spend an hour trying to fix computer problems on there 2 year lap top or desktop. After another two year after their purchase lack of maintenance will cause their new PC to lose its performance speed. Whats next you guess, 00 Windows Vista Ready PC. This is known as the consumer vicious cycle.

Why have does your computer have problems?

Well, the biggest problem that your computer has is its owner. More than 80% of computer problems stem from neglecting to perform simple maintenance task such as cleaning your registry, emptying your cache files and updating software regularly. If these task a perform diligently. You would be reading this article from a five year old machine running on Windows 98 operating system. So, lets take a look at the top five computer problems and how to avoid them.

1. Computer has performance has slowed.

This is the number one complaint from most users. There are several reason why this has occurred. However, most can attributed to lack of maintenance. Fragmented data, corrupted registry, spyware, and load of unnecessary programs and services running can all eat away at your PC speed and performance. Manage your programs and cleaning your registry would easily award you a 30% gain in performance speed. Check out The 4 ways to speed up my computer

2. Lockup, freezes, and blue screens of death.

This is a another common computer problem. However, this particular issue is a bit more serious; therefore, it needs a few diagnostic steps. In most cases this problems are caused by spyware. To avoid this problem update your anti-spyware program daily. Having the most up to date signatures will help you avoid having a serious spyware problem. However, if you have concluded that your PC is spyware free. You should update your hardware drivers. The computer cannot communicate with various hardware components without an up to date driver. When it cannot find a driver, the CPU locks up. Also, increasing your virtual memory can also help to avoid freezes. Virtual Memory will allow to you get more use out your computer's RAM. Check the resource box for more info on the subject.

3. The computer spontaneously reboots or turn itself off.

This computer problem can be usually attributed to a hardware issue. Usually its the power supply is dying or in most cases a dirty or defective cooling fan. The computer trying to cool itself by automatically switching off. So, if you feel a bit of extra heat coming out the computer. Clean the fan and make sure it running properly. If your fan is functional, check your power supply. Also, you will be surprised how many people fail to make sure the cables are attached tightly. This be the cause of this particular computer problem.

4. Strange noises and vibrations.

This is almost totally a hardware issue. You computer is made up of thousands of parts. Its not unheard of that one of them can become unhinged. Overheating can cause expansion of wires and melt some sensitive. High pitch noises such as squealing or whining sounds can be cause electronic components. Whatever the reason, you conduct a small investigation. Remove the case and run the computer to discover the origin of the computer problem. If its not a simple matter such as a loose wire or fan issue, it may be time to call a computer tech.

5. Your home page, default search engine, or web browser has changed itself.

This is also known as "high-jacking". Spyware has been installed on your computer via social networking or from email link. This action has allowed spyware to install a java script into your web browser. The spyware then sends a message to your browser to change your user settings. For example change your home page to another web page.

As you have discovered from reading the article, the most common computer problems can be handle quite easily by simple maintenance of your PC. Net time you are suffering from computer problems. Take a few minutes to run some diagnostic test before rushing out to computer technical center claiming your PC is broken. When all you need to do was just make sure it was plugged in.

Classification of Computers

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Computers are available in different shapes, sizes and weights, due to these different shapes and sizes they perform different sorts of jobs from one another.

They can also be classified in different ways. All the computers are designed by the qualified computer architectures that design these machines as their requirements.

A computer that is used in a home differs in size and shape from the computer being used in a hospital. Computers act as a server in large buildings, while the computer also differs in size and shape performing its job as a weather forecaster.

A student carrying a laptop with him to his college is different in shape and size from all the computers mentioned above.

Here we are going to introduce different classifications of computers one by one. We will discuss what are in classifications and what job they perform.

Super computer

The biggest in size, the most expensive in price than any other is classified and known as super computer. It can process trillions of instructions in seconds. This computer is not used as a PC in a home neither by a student in a college.

Governments specially use this type of computer for their different calculations and heavy jobs. Different industries also use this huge computer for designing their products.

In most of the Hollywood's movies it is used for animation purposes. This kind of computer is also helpful for forecasting weather reports worldwide.

Mainframes

Another giant in computers after the super computer is Mainframe, which can also process millions of instruction per second and capable of accessing billions of data.

This computer is commonly used in big hospitals, air line reservations companies, and many other huge companies prefer mainframe because of its capability of retrieving data on a huge basis.

This is normally to expensive and out of reach from a salary-based person who wants a computer for his home.

This kind of computer can cost up to thousands of dollars.

Minicomputer

This computer is next in he line but less offers less than mainframe in work and performance. These are the computers, which are mostly preferred by the small type of business personals, colleges, etc.

Personal computers

Almost all the computer users are familiar with the personal computers. They normally know what the personal computer is and what are its functions.

This is the computer mostly preferred by the home users. These computers are lesser in cost than the computers given above and also, small in size; they are also called PCs in short for Personal computers.

This computer is small in size and you can easily arrange it to fit in your single bedroom with its all accommodation. Today this is thought to be the most popular computer in all.

Notebook computers

Having a small size and low weight the notebook is easy to carry to anywhere. A student can take it with him/her to his/her school in his/her bag with his/her book.

This is easy to carry around and preferred by students and business people to meet their assignments and other necessary tasks.

The approach of this computer is also the same as the Personal computer. It can store the same amount of data and having a memory of the same size as that of a personal computer. One can say that it is the replacement of personal desktop computer.

This is one of the unique articles posted weekly on http://www.computer-and-printer-reviews.com.

USB Unknown Device Error? Fix USB Unknown Device Problem Quickly

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

USB unknown device? Error messages like "Unknown Device" or "USB device not recognized" are very annoying problems. It bothers a lot of people. The error messages appear, when you plug a printer, scanner, camera or other USB devices to your computer. And you will not be able to use the device.

Why do the problems keep happening? How can we solve them? There are two issues that can cause the problems.

Case 1: Device Driver is installed improperly or damaged.

A USB device (like Printer, scanner, joystick and other hardware) needs suitable driver to be recognized by Windows system and work properly on the computer. When you buy a new USB device you need to install the driver for it first. Or your system will pop up the error messages and you will not be able to use it.

This problem not only happens to new hardware but also old devices. Because driver files are easily damaged or deleted by some illegal operations or viruses. When a driver is damaged, the corresponding device will not be recognized and cannot work properly. To fix it, you can download the latest driver for the device and install it on your computer.

Case 2: USB Driver damaged or outdated.

If you have installed the latest driver for the device but it still does not work, then your USB driver is probably damaged or outdated. USB driver is used for recognizing a USB device that is plugged to the computer. If the USB driver is damaged or outdated, Windows will not be able to recognize all the USB devices that plugged to the computer. And the USB devices attached to a computer will be deemed to be Unknown. The only way to fix the problem that caused by damaged and outdated USB driver is update or reinstall it.

In a word, the USB unknown device error results from driver problem. To fix the problem, you need to reinstall and update the device and USB drivers on your computer.

How To Transfer Programs From Old Computer To New Computer

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

If you are looking at just transferring files from XP to Vista or from your old computer to your new computer you have many different options. One of which is the free easy data transfer tool built into Windows XP and Vista. This easy data transfer tool is not hard to use and does transfer over files and user settings. You can always just manually do the data transfer as well but if you go that route you will not be able to transfer over the user settings from your old system to the new. The overall cost to use the easy data transfer wizard depends on what method you use to transfer over the files. If your using a network then you have no additional costs. If you use a CD or an external media device then you have the cost of the CD's or the USB hard drive.

But How do I transfer over programs to my new Computer

The Windows easy transfer wizard will not transfer over programs. If you want to transfer over your old data you will need to purchase software to do this. This type of software is not all too expensive. Most people can purchase this for a round 59 bucks. You may also want to get an easy transfer cable as well if you do not have a network or USB hard drive to back the data onto. With the easy data transfer cable you can just sync the two computers together using the data transfer software and in a few clicks the transfer will start. The time it takes will vary widely on how much data you have. It may take 20 minutes or even 3 hours if you have a ton of music and pictures. To sum it up here there is no free way to transfer programs from one computer to another.

There are some important things to consider when transferring over programs. For instance if you have XP and are moving to Vista then you will want to make sure the programs you are moving will work with Vista. Most printers need to updated software to work with Vista. Office programs will work just fine and most anti-irus program will as well. You should always check first. If you do not check you can always just uninstall the program if it does not work.

Why Does My Computer Keep Freezing Up? - How to Fix Computer Freeze Problem

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Does your computer keep freezing time and time again? Sometimes when you are working or playing games on your computer, your computer just freezes up for no reason. Why does the computer keep freezing? How do you fix it?

Normally a computer freezes up owing to short of RAM resources. When you are running too many programs at the same time, the programs will fight for the inadequate RAM resources. If Windows fails to allocate the memory properly, computer would freezes up and some programs will be not responding.

Someone says if he increases his memory the problem will not happen again. Unfortunately some PC users who have 4 G RAM also encounter the freezing problem once in a while. Why? System problems!

In most cases, it is not the inadequate RAM resources that cause computer to hang up. There are many issues that have a negative effect on computer performance such as registry errors, redundant DLL files, junk files and so on. When your computer is confronted with those problems, you could find the performance is dramatically decreased.

For example, registry is one of the most important parts of Windows system. If registry is corrupted or damaged, your computer would not only lock up but also even experience blue screen, blank screen and other serious problems. And when there are many redundant DLL files in your system disk, part of the RAM resources will be occupied by them. Then your PC will run into the situation in which RAM resources is inadequate and your computer will hang up.

Besides, there are many other issues can lead to computer hang-up. You need to handle all the issues to fix the problem.

Computer Appreciation For Beginners (Part 1)

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

To those who really want to be perfect in computer operation and understanding, this article which shall come in 'parts' will lead you gently from the basics of computer to the complex usage of the software in the system. Before one starts using the programs in the system, he or she wants understand the system components and their usage. And so I wish to let you know of the meaning of computer and probably the generations of computer.

Definition of a Computer System
Computer is defined in so many ways by so many people based on their field of specialization. A computer is a set of interrelated and interactive devices, which uses electronic components to perform a predefined operation with accuracy. But generally, a computer system may simply be defined as an electronic device, which is capable of accepting data as input, process the data, store the data and provide a result as output in human readable form. The four basic parts of a computer are Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and System unit.

A Brief History of Computer
Computer history and development is always traced to Charles Babbage, the Father of computers and Lady Ada Lovelace, the Mother of Programming. The computer we have come to use today perfectly without any much stress and difficulty was not invented the way we have seen but passed through series of processes and stages. There exist five generations of computer as briefly discussed below:

First Generation Computer (The Vacuum Tube Technology)
This generation of computers consists of computers developed between 1944 and 1959. ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Calculator), EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computers) and UNIVAC 1 and 11 are first generation computers. This generation of computers were very bulky, dissipates a lot of heat, some were very heavy, weighing up to 200 tons. Because of the heat, they needed special cooling system. The characteristic technology of this generation was the use of vacuum tubes as the basic building blocks for the logic parts of the computers. In terms of speed they were very slow compared with computers of later generations.

Second Generation Computer (The Transistor Technology)
The technology, which gave the distinguishing characteristics of the second -generation computers, was the transistor technology. Although this device was developed in 1948 in Bell Telephone Laboratories, and was used largely in the electronic world, it was not until 1959 that it was introduced in the manufacture of computers. These transistors replaced the bulky vacuum tubes. In addition to doing everything that the vacuum tube could do, the transistors would do so with greater reliability, with less power requirement, generate less heat, less costly to manufacture and much smaller in size. The computers developed between 1959 and 1964 are called the second-generation computers. Examples: IBM 7030, 7070, 7090, 7094, Boroughs 200 series, UNIVAC III, Honey-well 800 etc. The development of high level programming languages like FORTRAN and COBOL was another innovation brought by the second-generation computers and were 10 times faster than the first.

Third Generation Computers (Integrated Circuit Technology)
Between 1964 and 1971, the third generation computers were developed. It was the technology of integrated circuits that opened the gates to the third generation computers. In fact we can say that the integrated circuit technology really revolutionized the computer technology itself. Integrated circuits are attached to a small piece of silicon chip. This technology cam progressively from Small Scale Integration (SSI), which contained about twenty interconnected transistors and diodes, through the Medium Scale Integration (MSI) which had over hundred interconnected transistors on a single chip, to Large Scale Integration (LSI) of over tens of thousand of transistors and diodes on a single chip. The achievements of the Integrated circuit technology led to even faster, more reliable, cheap and small-sized computers, whose powers were multiple of those of the earlier generations. In deed, this generation of computers gave birth to the mini computers, whose power of operation was more than the earlier generation, greater reliability and speed, yet was far less in size and in cost. They could do hundred times as many calculations per second and hundred times faster than their second-generation counterparts could. Examples: IBM 31360 - 31370 series, CDC 6600, 7600, Boroughs B5000 and PDP II series.

The Fourth Generation Computers (VLSIC Micro Technology
The very large-scale integrated circuit (VLSIC), made possible by the micro technology of the period 1971-1982 ushered in the fourth generation of computers. VLSIC has between 5,000 and 50,000 gates (transistors), upon which micro-processors were built. The effect of this technology was smaller and smaller but more and more powerful computers whose speed and reliability trivialized those of the earlier generations. This era also produced the micro-computers that could do the job of first generation large computers with thousand of times faster speed and affordable prices even by individual. This generation also produced a wide variety of software packages like word processing packages, graphics, games, spreadsheet packages and database management systems. Networking capabilities were also enhanced in this era. Examples of the fourth generation computers include the IBM 3033, HP 3000 mini computers, Apple II, Boroughs B7700.

Fifth Generation Computers (Era of Artificial Intelligence)
The technology of this generation of computers is characterized by Super Large Scale Integration (ULSI), Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI), parallel processing, Artificial Intelligence, Speech Processing, Pattern Recognition and Expert System. The distinguishing characteristics of this generation of computer are their tremendous speed and power. Continuous miniaturization of computers is the order of the day, newer, smaller, more powerful computers are seen day by day. Powerful microcomputers have today dwarfed the capability of the older days mainframe. Pentium II mother board with clock speed higher than 300 MHz and hard disk storage space over 20 Gigabytes with unbelievable capabilities, are now affordable by even low income earners. Networking, ranging from local, wide area to Internets are the common features of this generation of computers and has reduced the whole world into a global village.

Creating a Routine As a Stay at Home Dad

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

First off, and perhaps most important, for the stay at home dad is to establish a routine. This routine can come in many sizes and shapes, will always be evolving, and should be tailored to fit you and your child's needs.

The importance of a routine is that it provides a framework for you and your child. You can change this framework as the needs of you and your child change, but I have noticed that my children are the most content when they know what's going on. If they get bored I can deviate from the routine, or abandon it completely for a time, but if they start to go crazy I can return to it.

Let me give you an example of a routine I have followed. I started using variations of this routine when my children were thirteen months old.

1. Diaper Time

2. Breakfast Time

3. Reading Time. I would sit cross legged on the floor in the same spot each morning beneath a lamp attached to the book case. My daughter would crawl into my lap, and I would read her books as my wife departed for work.

4. Movie Time (cartoon video and snack). I would do household chores during this time.

5. Playtime (which includes coloring, blocks, play doe, toys, free play, and puzzles etc.).

6. Dancing time/music time (put on your favorite music and dance). Also includes playing your favorite instrument and letting your child play it as well.

7. Nap time (can include going for a pack walk or buggy walk or a drive in the car until child falls asleep). I would do more chores around house during this time.

8. Reading time.

9. Change diaper.

10. Lunch.

11. Visit the park/shopping. Have a cookie in the shopping cart.

12. Play in car (supervised).

13. Computer time (draw pictures for child on computer. Let him or her begin to play with keyboard. (Was typewriter time until we were given a computer.)

14. Snack time (cheese, crackers, Kix, raisons, carrot, frozen corn, etc., on a plate. Each child has his own preferences. I leave snack out for a while so my daughters can graze.

15. School time (play school with stuffed animals as students. Child and I take turns being teacher and aide. Aide makes stuffed animals talk.)

16. Office time (pay bills while child sits on your lap and draws and plays with office supplies, tape, stamps, large paper clips, etc.)

17. Sandbox time (or flour time. Pour a little flour into a pan and let child guide little plastic people or toys through it.)

18. Dinner time.

19. Monster time. (Dad chases child around the house pretending to be a monster.)

20. Bath time.

21. Reading time & bedtime.

I don't adhere to this schedule religiously, and the times allotted for each item may vary. Nor do I do all of the items listed above on a daily basis. You may not be able to go to the park because it's raining, or you won't go shopping everyday, or perhaps you just get tired of doing some of the items, and you need to rotate them. So the routine floats, as do the items in it, but it does provide a basic structure. If you like, you can abandon it all together and just fool around, or you can do monster time in the morning instead of in the evening, and you can also be spontaneous and add something new whenever you want, but it's nice to have a schedule of events to fall back on. I believe children like structure and order, as well as some free time.

In the beginning I make a point of calling out each activity five or ten minutes before it actually begins. This gives the kids a little time to adjust. After the routine is established your child will begin telling you what event is coming next.

Just because you follow this schedule it doesn't mean you won't have any problems. If your child is coming down with a cold, or didn't get enough sleep the night before, or he or she is teething, you're going to have a rough day. But overall a routine will reduce frustration in you and your child. It will give you direction, and a sequence of events to organize the day.

What Is a Settlement Brochure?

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

The Settlement Brochure, sometimes called Demand Video, is most accurately known as a Mediation Documentary, as it focuses on the coverage of liability and damages and is presented during a mediation proceeding or arbitration hearing. The finished piece is from 10 to 30 minutes in length, never longer, and is a concise summation of the case. This video is produced to get the opposing counsel or insurance company to fully recognize the pain and suffering from a catastrophic injury or death stemming from negligence, malpractice or product liability.

The Mediation Documentary never sees the inside of a courtroom: yet, by its vivid and very graphic nature is an incredibly valuable and often indispensable part of a mediation process leading to the favorable settlement of a case. Mediation Documentaries are advocacy video and all the stops are pulled to advance the case for liability and damages. The video content is produced for maximum emotional impact. Every method that can be employed to heighten dramatic tension and deliver the emotional punch is engaged. Dramatic lighting, fancy editing, special effects, dramatic background scoring, dramatic voice-overs, professional actors, title generation, fancy camerawork, emotional shots, graphic shots, chroma keying, stock footage, computer generated animation, image treatments - and the list goes on - are all deployed.

Mediation Documentaries are full-blown professionally produced videos with the plaintiff's counsel in the director's seat. This is precision, very slick video documentation and the effort to produce it on a defined timeline is highly sophisticated. As with any professional production, the shooting schedule is carefully planned, often stripped out in Day-Out-of-Days and the production meticulously scripted for optimum efficiency, economy and effectiveness.

A legal videographer can go into fact-finding mode, working in consultation with counsel and legal assistants to assemble the elements of the case and comprehensively target coverage. A certified legal video production team may coordinates with the scheduling of interviews, organizing all exhibits and material that will drive the presentation.

A legal video production company may script and storyboard the production for the counsel's approval, provide on-location coverage, go into the post-production phase with the same attention to detail, providing professional editing, professional graphics enhancement, professional color correction, dramatic scoring critically timed to the cuts, computer generated animation, encoding and authoring. The finished settlement brochure is a very polished demand video and powerful summation of the case.

Apple's New Tablet - What Will iPad Cost and How Does it Work?

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Apple has finally done it. Apple has released its new tablet device, that is. The Mac public was expecting, indeed clamoring -- for Apple to release such a device -- and soon! For Apple to have failed to do so would have been a major letdown (to its customers as well as its stockholders). The momentum was just impossible to resist.

After all, the iPhone is essentially a miniature tablet computer. Apple has shown that it can "do" such a device like no one else. So, despite Steve Jobs past protestations, releasing a new tablet was a no-brainer. All Apple had to do is scale up its brilliant interface to a larger device.

Did I say "all Apple had to do?" The technical challenges in producing this new device, called the iPad, were enormous. Apple had to essentially design a whole new operating system that is not quite the Mac and not quite the iPhone, rewrite its core applications from scratch, and basically rethink the entire way a computer operates.

Apple was not the first to release a new tablet computer, just as it was not the first to release an MP3 player or cell phone, but it may well be the company that succeeds in making the tablet computer truly "catch fire" with the public.

Apple has a tremendous head start with 140,000+ apps for the iPhone, and it wisely designed the iPad to take advantage of them. The iPad can run iPhone apps at their original size, or in "pixel doubled mode" twice the size as on the iPhone, so that they nearly fill the iPad screen. Developers can easily rewrite their iPhone apps specifically for the iPad in such a way as to take advantage of its new features.

How will the iPad affect Internet marketers? Of course, the "i" in its name stands for Internet (and it's also a clever play on the name of the "iPod"). Surfing the web will be a joy, and a larger screen will give users much more room to work with. Apple's developers brag that it's like "holding the entire Internet in your hand," or like reading a physical book or magazine.

Creation of new apps for the iPad by developers could rival the gold rush that sprang up around the iPhone. Apple offers the SDK 3.2 beta for developers with the tools they need to start creating applications for the iPad, and an iPad simulator that lets them build and run applications on the Mac, lay out the user interface, test memory usage and debug.

Web graphic designers and artists will enjoy the included Brushes application on the iPad's larger screen, although some may feel that it is something like fingerpainting -- a stylus that works with the iPad will not be supported, at least not initially.

Apple has completely rewritten its productivity software iWork for the iPad. Keynote contains custom graph styles, custom-designed themes, animations and effects, and brand-new features designed just for the iPad. Pages includes Apple-designed templates and formatting tools. Numbers offers over 250 formulas, flexible tables and sophisticated charts.

Want to catch up on your marketing reading? Apple has worked hard to make reading e-books, magazines and newspapers pleasurable on the iPad. Apple's e-book reading software has an interface that looks like a bookshelf. Flip the bookshelf over with your finger, and you're brought to the online store where you can purchase new books.

The iPad's built-in Safari browser works just like the one on your Mac. And, like the version on your iPhone, you can scroll through pages by flicking your finger across them, or pinch or double tap to zoom in on a photo.

The Mail application offers a landscape view with a split screen showing both the current e-mail and the unread messages in your inbox. Want to view the current e-mail message by itself? Simply turn the iPad to portrait mode and the message zooms to fill the screen. The iPad will work with popular e-mail providers such as mobile me, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL. To compose a message, you just tap and start typing.

This brings us to the onscreen keyboard. Many pundits wondered how text entry would work on Apple's new tablet device. You can use an external keyboard for typing long documents if you wish. However, I think Apple made the right decision in not attempting to build a physical keyboard into the tablet. The goal of the iPad is to bring your data and web surfing up close for an intimate feel. A keypad would simply get between you and the screen.

The on-screen keyboard is much larger, of course, than what is possible on the iPhone. In landscape mode, the keyboard is almost as large as that on a standard laptop. With just a few tweaks to the word recognition and auto-correction features of the iPhone software, typing on this virtual keyboard, I suspect, could be almost as fast as using a real one. Plus, I believe that voice dictation apps could come quickly to the iPad, just as they have to the iPhone.

And, of course, the iPad includes all of the same features as the iPhone, only in a larger form--video, YouTube, the iPod and iTunes, interactive satellite maps, the notepad, a calendar completely redesigned from the ground up for the iPad, Contacts and Spotlight search.

The iPad will be shipped in three different internal storage configurations and with the option of Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G, for a total of six different models. The base model, the 16 GB Wi-Fi only, will start at a reasonable 9, while the top of the line 64 GB Wi-Fi + 3G model will tip the scales at a still affordable 9. Apple has said that, while most new technologies are introduced at a higher price point and slowly work their way down, Apple wanted to do things differently.

When will the iPad be available? Apple expects the Wi-Fi models to ship in late March and the 3G models to ship in April.

The thinness, just 0.5 inches, the light weight, just 1.5 pounds, and the flexibility of this new device are sure to make the iPad popular with Internet marketers and anyone on the go. With its high resolution LED backlight, it's larger display, it's responsive multi-touch screen and its powerful Apple-designed processor, the new iPad will be thin and light enough to take anywhere. And I suspect that many people will choose to do exactly that.

So, You Wanna Be a Writer-Director?

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION :

Before you jump off in the deep end of the film world and opt to become a writer/director, you might want to put on the brakes and take a glance at yourself. Me, you ask? Why should I look at myself? Well, when did you first get the idea to become a writer/director? What is motivating you? Who were you at that time? Where were you? How were you feeling at the time? Why are you interested in becoming a writer/director? If you don't like pain, you'd better answer these questions honestly. The answers may make you aware of something very special that you might not be aware of at this moment. It may prove to be invaluable to you when someone tells you you're crazy for trying to become a writer/director. You'll have to draw on this special you when you need an additional ,000 to finish shooting your film, for editing, or for a host of other things, and have no idea where you're going to get it. When it's dark and half the earth's people are sleeping, you will require it to get yourself ready for shooting in the morning. With seventeen telephone calls facing you after a sixteen hour day of shooting, it will help you find the time to get them made before you begin shooting the next day. This special side of you will drive you through concrete walls, but you have to answer those questions up there in the second paragraph, or you ain't going to get it done as a writer/director.

The first time I became mindful of this special side of me was a few years ago when a client and friend (I edited a book she wrote, helped her find a publisher and helped her get it published; one of my day jobs before I went into writing/film making full time) called me and asked me to write, direct and produce a documentary film. This awareness kicked in at that twinkling even though I had no idea how to write, direct and produce a documentary film.

My wife and I had recently experienced, first hand, the subject matter of the film. My friend was in my zone, and she knew it. My friend reminded me that I had talked with her about writing and directing films and had expressed my desire for it to her. She said that she would finance the project, and part of that financing would be for me to learn how to write, direct and produce a documentary film. Then, she asked me to assign her, her job. Has your throat ever become so dry that you couldn't swallow? That was how my throat felt when she unloaded that bit of information on me. I took a swig of water, and notified her, her job would be to executive produce the film. She asked me what that meant. I explained to her that financing films is what executive producers do. I went on to tell her that executive producers also give input in the making of the film, actually, most any kind of input they choose to give. There was a long pause on her end of the line (I think she was making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat). I listened to my heart beating. It was a quiet sound, not really thumping, but something like, blimp, blimp, blimp. My mind swirled with excitement. After eleven years of wanting to write and direct a film, I was going to do it. Little did I realize how important this awareness would become in the upcoming months.

Between eating sandwich -like sounds, my friend said she simply wanted to make sure the film showed the subject matter of the film in her heartfelt way. I felt a surge of something shoot through my body and mind. A single bolt electrified me at that instant as I recalled the emotional experience my wife and I had with the subject matter of the film. For legal reasons, I can only say that it related directly to the death of my wife's nephew. He was a graphic artist, weight lifter and a handsome guy. At the end of his life, I had to pick him up in my arms, and carry him to our car to drive him to the hospital. I told my friend, okay, let's do it.

The terror of becoming a writer/director and producer as well, hit me about an hour after we said goodbye. I stared at Bo who sat on my desk on top of my notebook. Bo was short for Bo Jangles. He was our black and white tomcat. He was a people cat, but he was pissed off because he was a human being in a past life and he wanted to be a human being in this life. He knew he was supposed to be a cat in this life in order to burn off the karma of being a jerk in more than one past lives, and he didn't like it. So, he used me as his punching bag. Bo stepped on my computer keyboard. He looked at the computer monitor, then at me. His black, button-shaped eyes burrowed through me. I knew then what I had to do. I was terrified, but my wife's nephew, Ron, came to mind again.A bolt of energy surged through my body.

After several months of researching writing, directing and producing documentary films, I acquired an understanding of the elements of the documentary. I learned about the myriad of elements incorporated in making a documentary film. The terror had dissipated. I was anxious to get started. I presented the budget of 0,000 for a 58-minute documentary film to my executive producer. "My," she said, "that's a lot of money for a film." I watched her muse over it for a minute. My heart plunged into my left Reebok hiking boot. "How much do you need to start?" she asked. I told her ,000 would get us through the first week of shooting. She wrote out a check for ,000, handed it to me and said, "What do you want me to do?" I said, "Well, we're shooting at the University of Denver on Wednesday at nine a.m. Why don't you come over and watch?"

With a crew of six (we shot the film on 16mm, so I needed a director of photography; he needed an assistant to load the massive-sized camera; a sound man; a light man; a grip; and a production assistant), a packed library of students, half of the DU faculty, two security officers and my executive producer, watched as we filmed a student lecture about the subject matter of the film. There was a film moment when what he was saying reached an emotional high, so high, that everyone there was near tears.

It was at that time that my director of photography told me he had run out of film and had to change it. My heart, about at my left kneecap during the shoot, dove for my left foot again. It landed there with a thump in the hiking boot. After the shoot, my executive producer expressed her pleasure over the experience. She mentioned the film moment and asked me if we got it on film. I told her the camera ran out of film at that time. She drilled me with those cobra eyes of hers, and said, "You should've planned for that." I told her that you cannot plan for film moments, they just happen. She argued that I didn't know what I was talking about and stormed off.

It was at that point that my heart tried to creep out of my boot, slip off and hide in some books in the religious book section of the library. I snatched it back. Even though anger frothed inside of me, (based on my life experience, I capped it. I wanted to go after her down the long hall that echoed with the clicking of her Gucci's. I wanted to blow fire at her. Since I had retrieved my heart from the marble floor and stuffed it back in my chest, I made a decision at that point that I was not going to turn into an animal. This special awareness was streaking through me at that point and it re-centered me.

In order to get financing for the second week of the scheduled four week shoot, I had to meet with my executive producer. After considerable discussion about the schedule, the budget and reassuring her that her money was being well spent, she wrote a ,000 check and handed it to me. The second week of shooting, we shot a series of interviews and b-roll which is what you shoot for background and fill-in during editing. The guy we were renting the 16mm camera from was hollering and screaming over the telephone at me for his ,000, the amount he was charging us weekly to rent it; my DP's car broke down and he wanted 0 to fix it; and my lighting guy wanted for gas for his truck. These requests were made to me as we were setting up to shoot at the raptor center in Fort Collins.

At this point, I walked away from the phone, the DP and the lighting guy. I went to a large cage where a golden eagle sat on a tree branch. I watched him for a few minutes. I wanted to kill three people, but it wasn't in me. I wanted to prepare my mind, as the director, to shoot what we had scheduled to shoot that day, and not have to deal with personal problems of the crew (part of a producer's job), but my energy was waning, and it was only eight o'clock in the morning.

The majestic eagle blinked his black, penetrating eyes at me. I watched his eyes. He watched my eyes. And suddenly there in the middle of a brutal, March, wind-blown eagle pen clutch, this special awareness swelled inside of me like a boiling sea. Tears welled in my eyes. The eagle cocked his head at me. I smiled at him that I was all right. He looked away, then began preening himself.

Late Friday of the second week after shooting all day, I met with my executive producer for money for week number three shooting. She hadn't appeared for the second week of shooting, said she was busy with her work. After going into another pitch for the money based on her questions and skepticism, she asked how much I needed to get the film into the can. I told her 8,000. A white sheet like color spread over her face. I retrieved a glass of water and handed it to her. Pale, she emptied the glass. She told me she wanted to see what her higher powers would tell her about giving me the money over the weekend. Now, it was my turn for the water and the glass was empty. I said I had four week contracts with seven people including the telephone screamer who was renting us his camera. I told her I had bills to pay. I explained to her that I had to plan the shoot for the next week. She said she was sorry, but I would have to wait for her decision.

My executive producer called me on Monday morning. She told me her higher powers told her to not give me any more money. I asked her why, she said she didn't want to put herself in jeopardy financially, and that she was pulling out. She hung up then.

I looked at Bo. He looked at me, like, well, it wasn't my fault. I looked at him, like well, it was your fault. Suddenly, this special awareness surfaced in my conscious mind. It was Bo, I knew, I loved him. He knew my wife's nephew. Actually, he was a special pal to Ron particularly during the last part of Ron's 33 years of life. I was electrified again. Even with this special awareness, I was having a hard time figuring out how I was going to get myself out of this mess. I discussed it with my business manager and soulmate. She said she never took on a project that she didn't finish. She said Ron would want us to finish this film so that others could benefit from it. She seared me with her blue/green eyes that sparkled with tears. She said, "Let's finish what we started, okay?" Well, let me tell you about this special awareness, it shot through me like a thousand bolts of lightning. I was lifted up on top of a mountain where I could see thousands of miles in every direction. My business manager and soul mate was beside me, right there. I hugged her. Her body was warm and melded into me, and I was all right then. I had to cut the shooting days. I had to cut the film from 58 minutes to 22 minutes and turn it into a classroom video on 16mm film. I had to ask the people I had contracts with to meet me half way. We had to come up with ,000 of our own money to complete the film. We finished the film, but not without more obstacles. Actually, I was threatened with lawsuits that could've sent us into bankruptcy. The company that processed the film let dust collect on it. 200 VHS copies of the film ended up with dark where light should've been. But we managed to get a distributor. The film was distributed to schools, colleges and universities throughout the United States.

I would've been unable to pull myself through this slough of pressure and stress without this special awareness. If you haven't guessed by now what this special awareness is, it is possible that you should re-think your desire to become a writer/director. At least, do the question/answer bit I suggested above. This special awareness is passion. Without passion, writing and directing becomes a robotic expression of a human being. Passion and writing and directing are synonymous. Without one, you will be unable to have the other two. Without two, you will be unable to possess the other one. And without any one of the three, it might be best to keep your day job unless you do not mind making films that are colored gray.
